Our work
In 2024, the WGMM has focused its work on the technical assessment of different fuel monitoring methodologies. 11 different methodologies were analysed taking into account different perspectives (fuel production, infrastructure, retail & costumer, regulation). In December 2024, a Report was published at a joint event in Brussels.
Building on the outcome of the 2024 Report and the increased political momentum around the CO₂ standards Regulation, the WGMM also decided to continue the work in 2025 with a stronger focus on policy advice. Our goal is to support the development of a new, more pragmatic Commission proposal to make vehicles, fully supplied with CO₂-neutral fuels a reality in Europe.
Our 2025/2026 Summary Report on Feedstock Availability
Europe’s sustainable feedstock base could be sufficient to supply CO₂‑neutral fuels for all transport modes. This summary report outlines key findings on feedstock types, potential supply up to 2050, and the synergies between road, aviation, and maritime fuel decarbonisation.

Our Report from 2024
The WGMM report presents a comprehensive assessment of 11 methodologies for monitoring the use of CO₂-neutral fuels in road transport. Explore key findings on CO₂-neutral fuel monitoring and industry collaboration. Find the full version here.
